Hi! My name is James English. I'm a Freelance Graphic designer with over 20 years experience, specialising in logo and editorial design. I'm fortunate to live in the stunningly beautiful Forest of Dean, in Gloucestershire, with my wife and two boys. I enjoy playing guitar, music, squash, Ultimate Frisbee and all things beautiful. After finishing my apprenticeship in 1992 I worked for a series of Graphic Design agencies, gaining a wealth of experience and developing into the seasoned designer I am today. I have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to work on such a varied range of media, covering a massive spectrum, from designing business cards to creating huge graphic liveries for vehicle fleets, glossy monthlies and packaging design. The diversity of the design industry means i'm as inspired now as I was as a student! The industry has changed so much in 20 years. I began my career in darkrooms and studios, very much still relying on paste-up and linotype image setters, skills from a bygone age. The introduction of WYSIWYG graphics now seem a dim and distant memory as they have developed so rapidly with powerful hardware and software. I became self employed in 2009 and enjoy the luxury of having the freedom to step out of the office anytime I need to, for a walk in the forest - always sure to get the creative juices flowing.
